**Mark your calendars!!**
“April is National Poetry Month, and I am planning to hold 4 poetry writing workshop sessions for Black survivors of violence. After the month is over, I want to publish a collection of work by participants (not compulsory), and then have a reading (also not compulsory) and book launch event in May. Workshops will be free, due to grant funds, and no poetry writing experience is necessary. Also, contributors to the book will get paid. (Publishing will be through my press, Mourning Glory Publishing.)
I’m waiting on confirmation of space availability, but I’m hoping to have one workshop a week on either a Thursday evening or a Saturday afternoon. The reading/launch event will likely be an evening in the last week of May. I’m looking for about 10-15 folks — workshops get a bit unwieldy past that point.”
If you are interested, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, feel free to pass this along to anyone you think may be interested (as long as they are Black, Portland-local enough to attend the workshops and event, and identify as a survivor).
