Denim Day

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

12pm-7pm

Portland State Univeristy-Ondine Housing Building

Denim Day is an event that is focused on raising awareness about victim blaming. This event initially started due to a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court, that overturned a rape conviction due to the fact that the victim was wearing tight jeans. The supreme court felt that the victim must have helped in the removal of their jeans, which implied consent. In the Broadway and Ondine lobbies tables will be set up, with information about Denim Day, the opportunities to make buttons or to write a message on a pair of jeans, and other education materials. This event is sponsored by University Housing and Residence Life.
