McMenamins Kennedy School

This workshop will be a panel discussion with some of Portland’s women of color artists/activists.

Tonya Jones is originally from Arkansas. She created the Women of Color Zine Workshops after noticing a lack of diversity at the Portland Zine Symposium. Besides making zines, Tonya has been collaborating with Black women activists to build a new PDX Black Feminism group. She enjoys reading, cooking (mac & cheese is her specialty!), and traveling.

Jamondria Harris is a poet/artist/musician/activist/anti-kyriarchal autodidact living in portland oregon. She was a member of Decolonize PDX, is affiliated with NWAPOC and has given multiple workshops on decolonization & anti-racism/anti-kyriarchy. She has curated multiple creative events, the most current of which are the afro-futuristic/afro-surrealist performance series ‘Solar Throat’, & ‘illume:the reading at mother foucault ‘s’, starting later in november.

Tessara is a poet and educator who uses the sharing of stories to build community, create understanding, and stimulate change. In addition to serving as the coordinator for Portland State University’s LGBTQ2+ Speaker’s Bureau, Tessara is a student at PSU, a participant in the Black Girl Dangerous Editor-in-Training Program, a story catcher for the Vanport Multimedia Project, a freelance-writer and editor, and a social justice educator. Bringing a passion to change the world into all of this work, Tessara believes it is the poet’s job to bring out both the struggle and beauty in life.
