National Council of Negro Women Fundraiser Breakfast

This past weekend, I (Tonya) got the opportunity to hang out with the members of the National Council of Negro Women (NCONW). It was a breakfast fundraiser for the group.

The National Council of Negro Women was founded in 1935 by Mary McLeod Bethune. The Portland chapter was organized in 1973. The members work hard to empower the Black community in Portland and all people that need their support.

The ladies are the sweetest bunch and are seeking new members, particularly younger Black women. The group wants to continue their activism in Portland…but need funding and members to keep it going!
